Webcams testées avec FreeTrack

Most webcams work with Freetrack, however an ideal webcam would have (from most important to least important):

• Auto-exposure can be disabled - mandatory for max fps.
• 30 frames per second capture rate - for good responsiveness and panning smoothness.
• Low CPU usage - less impact on game frame rate.
• An Outside mode or equivalently, the ability to disable anti-flicker - providing a more consistent frame rate for better panning smoothness.
• Low price. (Low Price < 30EUR, Mid-price 30EUR-100EUR, High-price > 100 EUR)
• I420 compression - more efficient and reliable than RGB compression.
• Wide field of view (46 degrees or more) - allowing more head movement (alternatively the webcam can be positioned further away from the user).
• Low image noise - less parasitic tracking jitter.
• 352×288 resolution - a little better than the more common 320×240 while not as demanding as the next higher resolution of 640×480.
• Quality adjustment - for providing more than 30fps at reduced quality.

Logitech Quickcam drivers generally don't permit exposure settings to be remembered, making Freetrack calibration more difficult. Quickcam drivers are also notorious for running numerous unnecessary background services. Try to install the driver only and avoid installing the extra software.
